Energy Systems Economic Analysis

The Energy Systems Economic Analysis component of Pūhiko Nukutū performs a systems-level economic assessment of geostorage options for zero-carbon energy futures, focusing on technology interactions with Aotearoa's unique setting (dominant renewables, imminent decarbonisation). Mauri0meter thresholds and indicators are being developed alongside traditional economic favourability metrics. Hence, we are evaluating which sites are attractive for development, (e.g., storage size, proximity to renewables, cost of retrofit) and compare these to above-ground storage technologies.
